  • (A) If the state board of cosmetology adopts a continuing education requirement under section 4713.09 of the Revised Code, it may develop a procedure by which a person who holds a license to practice a branch of cosmetology, managing license, or instructor license and who is not currently engaged in the practice of the branch of cosmetology, managing a salon, or teaching the theory and practice of the branch of cosmetology, but who desires to be so engaged in the future, may apply to the board to have the person's license classified inactive. If the board develops such a procedure, a person seeking to have the person's license classified inactive shall apply to the board on a form provided by the board and pay the fee established by rules adopted under section 4713.08 of the Revised Code.

    (B) The board shall not restore an inactive license until the later of the following:

    (1) The date that the person holding the license submits proof satisfactory to the board that the person has completed the continuing education that a rule adopted under section 4713.08 of the Revised Code requires;

    (2) The last day of January of the next odd-numbered year following the year the license is classified inactive.

    (C) A person who holds an inactive license may engage in the practice of a branch of cosmetology if the person holds a temporary work permit as specified in rules adopted by the board under section 4713.08 of the Revised Code.
